The Sheffield City Region Mayoral election which was due for May 2017 has now been postponed until May 2018. The Guardian reports: 'Derbyshire County Council brought the case against Sheffield City Region combined authority in August', which has meant that the City Region will have to consult further with the residents of Chesterfield. 'John Burrows, leader of Chesterfield borough council, said a share of at least £484m over the next five years was at stake. “There is no other devolution deal on the table. Council leaders elsewhere in Derbyshire still don’t want an elected mayor, which means there is no prospect of an alternative Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire deal,” he said.'

North East Derbyshire District Councillor and County Council candidate for Clay Cross North Cllr David Hancock will be recording a segment on Peak FM tomorrow regarding the Derbyshire County Council's plan to increase Council Tax by 4% this coming year. David said: "The Labour run authority are on one hand wasting funds at every given opportunity, then in the same breath asking residents across the County to foot the bill" He went on to say: "They then turn round and blame the Tory government. The people of Derbyshire deserve better representation, than a County Council that pass the blame, rather than looking at themselves." #Working4You
