County Councillor says South Normanton Parish Council “are opening a can of worms”

News, Petitions, Representation
The Post Mill Centre, South Normanton, was the scene of a remarkable decision taken by the South Normanton Parish Council at their meeting on 9th February. District Councillor, and Chair of the Local Labour Party Branch, Emma Stevenson moved that the Council suspend the annual grant to the Post Mill Centre and instead, require each individual group to separately for apply grants in what County Councillor Jim Coyle describe as “opening a can of worms” and suggested that the Council will find themselves needing “to employ more staff” to deal with the increased volume of grant requests from local community groups. Eckington: No Fracking Way

Petitions
North East Derbyshire and Bolsover Liberal Democrats oppose Fracking The Government have recently granted licences to Shale Gas extraction (“Fracking”) company INEOS to carry out seismic surveys of the ground beneath the South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire areas to investigate the potential of extracting shale gas. INEOS is already looking to begin surveying in the Mrash Lane area. Consequently below our feet lie miles of disused tunnels, shafts and voids which have been abandoned. Nobody knows where these are. Many of these mine workings are below urban areas such as Chesterfield and Bolsover. There are potential health and safety implications in respect…

Norman Lamb MP calls for cross party action on NHS

Norman Lamb MP calls for cross party action on NHS

Petitions
Norman Lamb is currently trying to setup a cross party health and social care convention and needs your help. The MP for North Norfolk is a strong advocate for our health and social care services and at the Liberal Democrats autumn conference in Brighton 2016 he was calling for a specific tax to deal with the under-funding of our NHS. "My belief is that if people could see that their money was going directly to the NHS and, critically, social care, then they would be prepared to pay a bit more if it was clear that it was needed." If you want to support this cross party group to finally agree a deal on saving our NHS , then please click this link.
