Lib Dem support increases across the area

North-East Derbyshire and Bolsover Liberal Democrats are proud of the significant progress we have made in the local elections last week.

Not only did we field a full set of County Council candidates in all 14 Division seats for the first time in over 50 years, we have made significant progress in almost all divisions.

North East Derbyshire & Bolsover District Liberal Democrat Chair, Ross Shipman said:-
“It has to be acknowledged that we were starting from a very low base in North East Derbyshire & Bolsover. Despite this being a local election a number of national issues were in play such as Brexit. Our aim in the County Council elections was to establish a base locally from which we can move forward and this has been done. For example in Clay Cross North we achieved over 30% of the votes despite not fielding a candidate in the last election and having to contend with visits from two MPs – Natascha Engel and PM Theresa May in recent weeks. We represent a voice for change locally in Derbyshire and we will continue to campaign on the concerns of local people.”
