Lib Dems launch cross-party petition calling on the Labour Party to ‘Slam their local plan’ in North East Derbyshire and Bolsover

North Derbyshire Liberal Democrats have launched two cross-party petitions for North East Derbyshire and Bolsover residents to sign. The petition demands that the local plans submitted to the inspectorate by the Labour-led authorities are scrap and that a proper accessible consultation is carried out.

North East Derbyshire District Council’s local plan was suppose to be implemented in 2014, but was only submitted in Jun 2018 to the planning inspectorate for approval. There will now be a public inquiry will begin w/c 12 November 2018 w/c 19 November 2018 w/c 3 December 2018.

Bolsover District Council are even further behind than North East Derbyshire District Council, as their local plan was only submitted to the planning inspectorate on 31st August 2018. The public inquiry is due in the new year.

North East Derbyshire District Councillor David Hancock (Tupton Ward), Cllr Pam Windley (Tupton PC) and Lib Dem  Spokesperson for North East Derbyshire and Bolsover, Ross Shipman want the Labour Party’s local plans ripping up.

Lib Dem North East Derbyshire and Bolsover Spokesperson, Ross Shipman said:

“Today, we launch our petition to stop this wreckless Labour house building plan, which will only cause misery for large parts of North East Derbyshire and Bolsover.”

“It is clear these plans are a rush job because they are already running years later than when they were supposed to be ready, so to delay another year so the plan is reflective of the areas they aim to represent is a pragmatic solution.

“I ask you to support the Lib Dems in demanding that the local plan in ripped up, so North East Derbyshire District Council and Bolsover District Council start again; with a proper consultation that asks all residents where they want houses in their local area, instead of arranging public meetings where very few people are able to attend.”

“Our campaign welcome cross-party support, we must work together to slam their local plan.”

On Thursday, 20th September after heavy showers, large parts of the A61 were flooded which caused traffic collisions and congestion.

North East Derbyshire District Councillor for the Tupton ward, David Hancock said:

“We demand better from these Labour-led authorities who think it’s a bright idea to connect Dronfield to Sheffield by concreting their greenbelt, build 5,000 houses in the south of the district along the congested A61 and 1,800 homes to the north of Clowne against the wishes of experts”

“If you ask people where they want homes in their local area, they will tell you, why are our local Councils not listening to residents.”

“We cannot sit idly by letting the Labour Party make these crazy decisions, decisions which will make nobody happy and a lot of people very unhappy.”
