North East Derbyshire Lib Dems say they are ‘delighted that Councillors of all parties supported’ their three motions at the meeting held on 20th May 2019.
North East Derbyshire Lib Dem Group Leader, David Hancock: “I want to place on record for all those Councillors supporting the three Lib Dem motions.”
“Whilst we had hoped they had all been passed without amendment, we were disappointed that some were made weaker by the conservative amendments, particularly around the sale of the land off Ankerbold Road, Tupton, where they replaced the word ‘withdraw’ with ‘review’.”
The motion, as passed, now reads that ‘the Council resolved to review the proposed sale of the greenfield land’ rather than to withdraw the sale completely.
Other motions passed included for the District Council to review car parking across North East Derbyshire and for the Public Council meetings to be live streamed to social media
Cllr David Hancock added: “North East Derbyshire residents want to see their elected representatives bringing forward policy and achieving things for the District.”
“The Lib Dem group will be bringing forward policy at every meeting and hope that these will also be supported by our colleagues across the chamber.”
